Wai studied at The Chinese University of Hong Kong and earned his bachelor and master degree of Arts in Music.

The conductor of Chamber Boys and the pianist of Chamber Choir since 1998, Wai travelled with The Hong Kong Children’s Choir to Canada, France, Italy, Vienna, Denmark, Singapore, Malaysia and Australia. He was appointed conductor of the Chamber Choir in 2002, which toured Norway as a guest choir of the 25th International Society of Music Education.

In 1998 he sang with the Hong Kong Oratorio Society at the 18th Zimriya Choral Festival held in Israel. Wai was awarded The Hong Kong Children’s Choir music education scholarship in 2004 to participate in the International Study Tour for choral conductors, Estonia. Wai further his studies on conducting at master classes Kurt Thomas Cursus, the Netherlands and Eric Ericson, Sweden in 2006. He was sought as the guest conductor of Kota Kinabalu Symphony Orchestra in Malaysia and Vox laci in Portugal. In 2007, his paper Estonia the Nation of Song and Choral Work Looduspildid by Veljo Tormis has been selected for presentation at The Phenomenon of Singing International Symposium VI, Canada. Sharing the Estonian choral music, Wai gave an interview to Cantilena hosted by Ms Nancy Loo at Radio 4 of Radio Television Hong Kong in 2009. Wai, as a guest speaker, delivered a lecture on conducting, with Viva Voce the demo choir at The Chinese University of Hong Kong in November 2009.

Wai is working as a banking consultant for a global IT company. He is currently pursuing a dual degree Executive MBA programme at Tsinghua University and INSEAD. Wai strikes a balance between his profession and passion of music.
